Alice Faye Collins succumbed to death after a brief illness on December 18, 2020 at Valley Hospice. She was born on May 15, 1940 in Birmingham, AL to the late Reverend Grant Hubbard, Jr. and Viola King Hubbard. The family relocated to Steubenville when she was 12 years old.
Alice graduated from Steubenville High School in 1958 where she met her late husband Richard Collins. They were married in 1960 and had three children: Andre Collins, Annette Murrell (Sean), and Ricardo Collins (Lisa).
Alice’s life was an example of one of her favorite bible verses: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6). The way she lived was an example for her children to mirror as she raised them--not only through her words but also action and deeds to believe and trust in the Lord. She was a faithful servant who loved and trusted in the Lord and a charter member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Steubenville, OH.
Alice retired as a Pharmacy Technician working for over 40 years at Treasure Island, Rite Price/Rite Aid. She had many interests and talents which she pursued after retirement. She was a member of the Red Hats society; volunteered at the Urban League and regularly visited senior homes to sing and worship with the residents. She was quite the baker and eagerly responded to the many requests for her dishes. She also enjoyed travel, shopping and spending quality time with friends and family.
Alice was one of eight children and maintained a close bond with her siblings who lovingly called her "Faye". She is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Norman of Los Angeles, CA and Brenda Jackson of Steubenville, OH; three grandchildren: Christian Murrell, Reagan Murrell, and Reilly Murrell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by five brothers: James Hubbard, Robert Hubbard, Percy Hubbard, Melvin Hubbard, and Terry Hubbard.
Alice will be missed but her memory and love will live on in each of us.
