Floyd Owens Sr. “Shoyd” of Steubenville, OH, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, at Trinity West in Steubenville, OH. He was born in Lafferty, OH, on May 31, 1933, to Claire Owens and Daniel David Smith. He had a special relationship with his mother; caring for her was his greatest joy.
Floyd worked for over 42 years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, where he retired. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.
He was a family man who treasured spending quality time with his family. Over the years, he traveled to Washington, D.C., and Boston to visit with loved ones. Floyd loved spending as much time as he could out on the water on one of his boats at the marina. He enjoyed listening to music, going out to restaurants, and eating coconut cream pies.
He is survived by his daughter Elaine Owens, son Floyd Owens Jr, grandchildren, I’eem, David, Sa’Shay, Jasmine, and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many people to cherish his memory, nieces, nephews, Mason brothers, and more.
Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Owens, of 38 years. His brother, Lloyd Owens, and sisters Loreen Harvin (James) and Catherine Crossland.
Visitation on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 11 AM - 12:00 PM at Vinson Mortuary, 711 North 5th Street, Steubenville, OH. Funeral service immediately following at noon.
