Leslie Raye Bennett, 65, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at her residence. She was born May 20, 1955, in Youngstown, OH, to the late Thomas (Harold) Bennett and the late Dorothy J. Bennett. Leslie grew up on the Northside of Youngstown and was a proud 1973 graduate of The Rayen High School. She was known as the school mascot ‘Rayen Tiger.’ She was a member of the Y-Teens and was crowned Junior Civic League Miss Cinderella in 1972. She attended Youngstown State University. She worked at General Motors for 30 plus years in Quality Control before retiring, where she was an active member of UAW Local 1112. She was a trustee, and active member of Civil and Human Rights, Community Services, Recreation, and Women’s’ Committees. She always volunteered to help other committees. She was also a member of NCNW, the NAACP.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Gary Bennett and grandparents.
She leaves to mourn, one sister Tuana Bennett-Vinson of Youngstown, OH, three nieces, Andrea M. Johnson of Reynoldsburg, OH, Heather R.(Michael) Willis of Henderson, NV, Hailey L.A. Vinson, and a nephew Virgis Joshua K. Vinson of Youngstown, OH. One great-niece and three great-nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 9:30 AM, with services, immediately following at 10:30 AM at The Jaylex Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., in Youngstown, OH.
